The Kwara State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Raji Razaq has Lamented the menace of drug abuse in the Community. He said, “Drug Abuse Can Steal the Future of our Youth”.

Dr. Raji’s outcry was made known to the State Drug Control Committee while paying an Advocacy visit to the Honourable Commissioner as part of this year’s sensitization activities for the United Nations International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Drug Trafficking.

“Drug abuse is a menace that can steal the future of our generation, therefore we have to join hands to discourage drug abuse and abusers, its sales and consumption in our community and prevent the innocent ones from being introduced to it.” said the commissioner.

Dr. Raji however, thanked Her Excellency Mrs. Folake AbdulRazaq for her huge support and donations to curbing drug abuse in state and also to the State Drug Control Committee’s activities.

He also applauded His Excellency Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his push in the health sectors.

He encouraged the committee neither to be tired nor to relent in their efforts in the overall interest of the society and the family front.

The Chairperson of Kwara State Drug Control Committee and the Director Pharmaceutical Services in the state Ministry of Health Pharmacist Barakat Olarewaju appreciated Her Excellency, the Wife of the Executive Governor, the Ministry on behalf of the State Government and all stakeholders in the fight against drug abuse.

The Secretary of the committee who is also the representative of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Mr. Friday Oluwi appreciated the Administration of His Excellency, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq that the committee had never had it this good until this present administration.

Mr. Oluwi said Kwara State is leading in response based on the fact that the government has been extremely supportive while other states have been looking up to us.
