Fresh Facts Emerge on Murder of 33 Yrs Old Gokada CEO, Saleh

Fresh facts have emerged on the gruesome murder of 33 years old Gokada CEO, Fahim Saleh.

Fahim Saleh, a Bangladeshi-American tech investor and founder of Nigerian startup Gokada, was found dead and dismembered in his New York apartment in Manhattan’s Lower East Side on Tuesday, July 14.

New York Police Department said Saleh’s corpse was found limbless and headless in a building on E. Houston St. at Suffolk St. on the Lower Eastside, New York.

Saleh’s dismembered body parts were found at the scene of the murder. An electric saw was also reportedly found in the apartment.

Saleh, purchased the Manhattan apartment last year for $2.2 million.

Saleh was last seen in a surveillance video getting into an elevator in his apartment building and a man dressed in all black – who police believe is Saleh’s assailant – entering the elevator with him.

An autopsy by the city’s Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled Thursday that Saleh died as a result of stab wounds to the neck and torso and found his manner of death to be a homicide. https://edition.cnn.com/2020/07/16/us/fahim-saleh-gokada-ceo-autopsy/index.html

Reacting via its official Twitter page, Gokada described Saleh’s death as sudden and tragic. The company said Fahim was a great leader.

“We are deeply saddened to inform you about the sudden and tragic loss of our founder and CEO, Fahim Salem. Fahim was a great leader, inspiration and positive light for all of us.

“Our hearts go out to his friends, family and all those feeling the pain and heartbreak we are currently experiencing, here at Gokada.

“Fahim’s vision and belief in us will be with us forever, and we will miss him dearly. Thank you for understanding as we get through this.

“All updates and changes will be communicated w ith you, as it unfolds. Forever in our hearts,” it wrote.

Hussain M. Elius who co-founded of Bangladesh company, Pathao, with Saleh said he was shocked to hear of Saleh’s demise.

“We are shocked and saddened to hear the reports of the death of Fahim Saleh, one of the founding members of the Pathao team,” Elius said.

Elius stated that Fahim believed in the potential for technology to transform lives in Bangladesh and beyond.

“He saw the promise in us when all we had was a common purpose and a shared vision. He was, and will forever remain, an incredible inspiration for Pathao and our entire ecosystem,” Elius said.

The 33-year-old, who was the son of Bangladeshi immigrants, created his first company while still in high school.

He went on to co-found the ride company Pathao, which is popular in Bangladesh and Nepal, in 2015.

In 2018, he helped found Nigerian motorbike taxi app Gokada.

Established with the aim of providing on-demand, flexible transport service to get around the city’s hours-long traffic jams and congestion, Gokada soon became one of the most prominent bike-hailing startups in Lagos.

In 2019, Gokada raised $5.3 million in seed funding and hired over 800 drivers, but the company faced a setback in February 2020, after the Lagos State government banned motorbikes in the city.

The New York authorities are still investigating Saleh’s murder.
