Chief Femi Fani-Kayode: The Undeserving Statesman

Chief Femi Fani-Kayode: An Undeserving Statesman

By – Tunde Fadipe

Engr. Rasheed Adewolu Ladoja was asked a question by a popular Journalist during his declaration for the top job of Oyo State. The journalist put it to him that how is he going to navigate through to become the governor judging from his look as not a handsome man and also questioned his intelligence. In summary, the Journalist concluded that “those who have the look and intelligence even have challenges of making it”.

Rasheed Ladoja remained calm and with a grim smile gave a simple narrative of who he is. He referred the Journalist to go and look at his wives and he wondered, this might have taken the negative part of his ugliness away. He narrated his academic successes from the Secondary school he attended and the scholarship to study petroleum engineering. He finally narrated his achievements in practice and business management. After the interview, he briskly thanked the Journalist for allowing him to blow his trumpet.

Fani-Kayode on the other hand, is a cancerous talkative, a political spin master without intellectual moderation. His verbal attacks on this government, the Fulanis and certain individuals in government are not only bad but despicably sad that someone who can d isplay his professional calling as a “lawyer” can stoop so low to describe government and people in such manners. Example of such was the build-up to 2015 that he said Alh. Lai Mohammed was wearing diapers.

I wonder what the Chief would have done if such a statement of heresy has been thrown to him. The basic question pushed to our Oga is not as bad as calling the president a “Jihadist”. The simple question of who is bankrolling shouldn’t have resulted in verbal fracas if our Chief is actually a lawyer, an intelligent person and a born again Christian as he always claims to be.

Despite his utterances against an innocent Journalist, I think Nigerians need to know what is his interest as a supervisor of PDP Governors. Who has appointed him into that office? For what purpose and where is the funding coming from?

To me, Chief Fani-Kayode has blown his chances of becoming a statesman. His declaration that he has “Short Fuse” has compounded his chances of been promoted to the league of elder statesmen. People with character, charisma and temperament to receive good and bad questions are effective leaders, not those who cannot even take half of what they give to others.

With people like Fani-Kayode leading PDP and begging Nigerians for votes, I think it will be better for all of us to come to the street to educate Nigerians how not to vote for people who will arrogantly put our democracy into reverse gear.

Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, you goofed sir. You need to tender an unreserved apology to the man you abused and the profession you have disrespected. You also need to learn self-restraint, it will be of immense benefit to you.
