
Donor agency supports Kwara health sector with items worth N18m
A donor agency, Chemonics International Incorporation, an implementing partner of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has supported the Kwara State health sector with items worth over N18 million.
This was revealed in a statement released on Tuesday by Falade Gbenga Tayo on behalf of Kwara State Ministry of Health.
According to Falade, “the items were received on behalf of the State Government by the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Raji Razaq at the Ministry of Health Headquarters, Ilorin.
“Items donated includes: Three (3) Toyota Hiace 15-Seater Buses and Two (2) Diesel Engine Generating Sets (Lister Peters-21.4KVA and Perkins-27KVA).
“The donation was to complement the skill transfer process that was previously driven by the Management Science for Health (MSH), which had used the items in coordinating the distribution of partners supported medical commodities in the state”, he said.

Making the donation of the items on behalf of the organization, the representative of the Country Director for Chemonics International Inc., Mr. Odiri Diamond said his organization was donating the items to further strengthen the state’s logistic management, HIV, TB and distribution of Medical consumables to the various hospitals and health centres in the state.
He noted that the organization has been able to improve the capacity of the health workers to perform effectively and therefore needed to be empowered with the vehicles and generating sets to further enhance their productivity.
Mr. Diamond appreciated the Governor of Kwara State, His Excellency AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for providing an enabling environment for them to impact positively on the health sector in the state.
Receiving the items, the Commissioner for Health, Dr Raji Razaq commended the organization for its impactful roles and strategies in ensuring that the health concern of the citizens was adequately addressed.
He assured that the Ministry’s mandate under his watch and the policy thrust of providing qualitative, affordable and accessible health services under the present administration, would be accomplished through this kind of mutually benefiting relationship.
