#EndSARS Protest: Sanwo-Olu imposes curfew in Lagos State
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Tuesday, October 20, 2020, imposed a 24-hour curfew on all parts of the state to prevent the breakdown of Law and Order
The governor made this declaration after weighing in on the security situation in the state arising from the #EndSARS protest.
In a series of tweets on his Twitter handle @jidesanwoolu, the governor said the 24-hour curfew was necessitated by the manner in which the peaceful #EndSARS protest had degenerated into a monster that is threatening the well-being of the state.
He added that “lives and limbs have been lost as criminals and miscreants are now hiding under the umbrella of these protests to unleash mayhem on our state”.
The Governor warned that nobody, except essential service providers and first responders, must be found on the streets.
The 24-hour curfew takes effect from 4 pm on Tuesday.
