My Oga Gets Older

My Oga Gets Older

By – Raheem Adedoyin

I fondly call him My Oga. He doesn’t know why but characteristically laughs it off with a disclaimer: “Rara o”.

Up till nearly midnight yesterday, we were, for over 32 minutes, communicating on a critical state matter. He gave no hint of a celebratory day for himself the next day. That’s vintage Rafiu Ajakaye, the calm but calculating Chief Press Secretary to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

Ajakaye is my guy. He is very respectful (he has no choice though, with me as a very very senior and celebrated colleague) and very professional in his ways.

I love people who write well. Ajakaye writes very well, so bewitchingly well.
Ajakaye has a calm demeanour but he can be very stubborn and dogged (where is Solace?) especially on the professional lane. To his credit though, he has never discountenanced my wise counsel.
When Rafiu finishes his tour of duty in Kwara, he is going back to the field in a profession he continues to build bridges where it matters most.

Fortunately, before I knew about the birthday, we already struck a deal on something on a celebratory tone. This adds to the necessity. See u then.

Congratulations and Many Happy Returns, My Oga.
