Cottage Industries: NAFDAC pledges support for Kwara Govt

The coordinator of National Agency for Drug Administration and Food Control (NAFDAC) in Kwara State, Mrs Roseline Ajayi has pledged the support of her agency to the Community Driven and Rural Development (CDRD) agenda of AbdulRazaq’s administration.

Mrs. Ajayi made the disclosure during a strategy session with the senior special assistant to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on community intervention, Kayode Oyin-Zubair.

The Governor’s aide led a government team to NAFDAC to discuss modalities at ensuring that, the establishment of the cottage industries in the state is seamless.

“We have come to ask for your support in the establishment of these cottage industries that will spread across the State. We are keen on producing high quality products. We want them to be safe too for human consumption.

“There is no doubt, our products will go beyond the shores of Nigeria, we don’t want them to be rejected. We are reaching to you so that all measures can be factored into our plans right from the scratch,” Oyin-Zubair said.

Meanwhile, the NAFDAC management team led by Mrs. Ajayi was upbeat that these industries would produce high quality foods since the government had factored the agency into her early stage preparations.

The State government had signed an agreement in October 2020 with National Center for Agricultural Mechanization (NCAM) to manufacture and maintain machines suitable for agro-processing industries in the State.

Mr. Olatayo Ajiboye, Director community development in the State was part of the government team that met with NAFDAC management team in Ilorin.
