An ambassador of the Kwara State Association of Nigeria, North American Chapter (KSANG), Oloriewe Raheem Adedoyin has hailed the appointment of Dr. Lola Sawyerr as Kwara State Focal Person on Diaspora Affairs.
In a statement released on Thursday, Adedoyin said Sawyerr’s appointment has received wide acceptance in the nigerian diaspora world, particularly among Kwarans.
“The deliberative nature of the appointment by the Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq says much about the desire of the Kwara State Government to get the best out of our people in the Diaspora.
“Dr. Sawyerr is not only well-qualified for the job, she comes with an extra credit of being an active member of the flagship organisation for Kwarans abroad, the Kwara State Association of Nigeria, North American Chapter (KSANG),” Adedoyin noted.
He added, “I recall that when the then Governor-elect AbdulRazaq was hosted by KSANG in Atlanta in May 2019, Dr. Sawyerr was one of the coordinators of the event and was very very active at the interactive session.
“I congratulate the Governor for walking the talk on his promise to engage Kwarans in the Diaspora in governance at home. He first showed his interest in collaborating with KSANG in 2018 when he attended the KSANG National Convention in Atlanta. He was then an ordinary member of the opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). On the sidelines of that Convention, he had told me about his desire to support KSANG initiatives on good governance in Kwara.
“It wasn’t surprising, therefore, that upon being elected and even before being sworn in, AA made a presentation to KSANG on his manifesto and policy thrust/ direction. That was in May 2019”.
Adedoyin explained that the appointment of Dr. Sawyerr indicates the determination of the AbdulRazaq Administration to partner with Kwarans in the Diaspora for the good of Kwarans.
“As KSANG Ambassador, I’m immensely thrilled by the appointment and the benefits to Kwara that will come with it,” he said.
