2023: Muktar Shagaya expresses optimism in clinching APC Ticket

Ilorin-born businessman, Muktar Shagaya has expressed optimism in clinching the ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to represent Ilorin West/Asa Federal Constituency at the National Assembly.

Speaking with members of the Association of Kwara Online Media Practitioners (ASKOMP) at his GRA Ilorin residence Monday evening, Muktar Shagaya noted that the acceptability of his candidacy among party faithful is growing daily.

“I am working hard to get the party ticket but God has the final say on every matter. We enjoy good acceptability rating among party members in the two local government areas. We just met APC members from Magaji Ngeri ward of Ilorin West local government who came to show their solidarity and support,” he hinted.

The Business Development Expert said his aspiration was born out of desire to accelerate development of the two local government areas within the constituency and Kwara State at large.

“I am running to better the lot of my people irrespective of their social or economic status. As a young person with wide exposure, I want to replicate and attract good things I have seen in other parts of Nigeria and beyond here. I believe we can achieve much more by getting involved in governance and policy making,” Muktar Shagaya stated.

He explained, “we can use agriculture, pottery and tourism to develop our constituency. For instance, the Cashew in Asa local government has huge economic benefits in the international market. Therefore, we can get our people involved to improve their standard of living. The same thing is applicable to pottery and cherished Ilorin Emirate Tradition/Culture via tourism.”

Shagaya hinted that his ongoing engagement of different groups and stakeholders will be used to develop a workable and implementable legislative agenda and blueprint for Ilorin West/Asa Federal Constituency.

Earlier, ASKOMP Chairman and Publisher of Informant247, Shola Salihu Taofeek said the association comprises trained journalists who always uphold ethics of the profession.
