Bioye Mumeen partners with KCDI, NCRI, JICA-Nigeria and Kwara Tabloid for Kwara Young Farmers Club project

Kwara-born agriculture expert and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Research Fellow, Bioye Mumeen, has partnered with the National Cereals Research Institute (NCRI), Kwara Citizenship Development Initiative (KCDI), Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA-Nigeria) and Kwara Tabloid Media for a post JICA Research Fellowship Action Project tagged “Kwara Young Farmers Club” (KYFC).

According to the initiator of the Project, Bioye Mumeen, the KYFC project will commence in May and it is geared towards driving improved national productivity through agricultural entrepreneurship by younger generations of Nigeria.

He noted that the above objective is to be specifically achieved through:

1) Reorientation of young school children on agricultural perception and general impressions about farming and farmers

2) To ignite the passion of and catch the younger generation of Nigerians into the agricultural value chain using the instrumentation of collective engagement and club activities.

“The method of implementation is to domicile the club in four schools within the pilot state of Kwara. These schools are well spread across the 3 senatorial zones of the state and are namely:

1) Government Secondary School, Panada, Ilorin East LGA

2) Etsu Abdullahi Government High School, Bacita Village, Edu LGA

3) Government Secondary School, Gwanara, Baruteen LGA

4) Government Secondary School, Omu- Aran, Irepodun LGA.

“The flag off/launch out program is expected to be held before the full establishment of the current rainy season planting activities, that is, by or before mid-May 2024,” Mumeen stated.
