Kwarans Forum Founder goes down memory lane on 9th Anniversary

The founder and Chief Admin of Kwarans Forum, Jide Rotimi (St Jude) has gone down memory lane as the platform marks nine years of its existence.

In a commemoratory message tagged: Kwarans Forum 9th Anniversary: Reflecting on the Journey Thus Far, which was made available to the media yesterday, St Jude said “The desire to turn our diversity to prosperity through cross-fertilization of ideas and robust dialogues birthed the Kwarans Forum 9 years ago”.

The message reads:

“The desire to turn our diversity to prosperity through cross-fertilization of ideas and robust dialogues birthed the Kwarans Forum 9 years ago. Since its inception in 2015, the Kwarans Forum have strived to create synergies between Kwarans at home and abroad for a broader understanding of our peculiarities within the global context.

“The journey over the last nine years has been a roller-coaster ride. We may not be where we ought to be but we are happy with our little accomplishments. As Kwarans who are passionate about the development of our dear state, we have gone above and beyond to contribute our quota in creating a favourable socio-economic atmosphere for the upcoming generation. In our bid to achieve the Kwara of our dreams, we have lost some of our compatriots but we are comforted by the fact that their sacrifices will not go in vain.

“Over the last nine years, Kwarans Forum has metamorphosed from a mere WhatsApp group into a Forum where issues affecting us as a people are exhaustively discussed and solutions proffered for the greater good of our state. We have been privileged to bring together captains of industries, academicians, diplomats, renowned media personalities and politicians, amongst other eminent personalities whose passion for Kwara cannot be over-emphasized. Their intellectual contributions have helped to provide a clear policy direction to successive governments.”

St Jude noted, “As part of our effort to support the government with insights and ideas to propel the state towards prosperity, a few of our members came together to form the ‘Kwarans Think Tank Forum’. Through extensive research, we came up with a policy document titled “Potentials of Tourism and Hospitality Industry to Boost Kwara State Revenue”, in 2021. The document identified the Tourism and Hospitality potentials of the state and laid out strategies to fully exploit the benefits accrued to both sectors. The policy recommendations were aimed at increasing the revenue of the state while positioning Kwara as a self-sufficient state with little or no reliance on Federal government allocations. Re-visiting the policy document which was submitted in 2021 will do the state a lot of good.”

He explained that some activities have been lined up to commemorate Kwarans Forum’s 9th anniversary.

“In commemoration of Kwarans Forum’s 9th anniversary, some of our members who are experts in their various fields will facilitate group lectures on topical issues like IT/Cyber Security; abating the growing insecurity in Kwara state; harnessing Kwara’s agricultural potential; and business opportunities in the hospitality industry. The group lectures would be well-documented and handed over to interested policy formulators.”

“The state of Harmony is ours to nurture and we must not relent in our effort to place her on the path of prosperity. Irrespective of our socio-cultural, political and religious inclinations, the Kwara project binds us together and we must turn our diversity into prosperity for the sake of posterity,” St Jude added.

“New members are introduced by existing platform members. With consent to abide with decorum and respect of messengers (members), approved members are admitted by the group administrators (Admins). To join us, send a WhatsApp message to 07064431054,” he noted.
