SanwoOlu, Akpabio, Saliu Mustapha, others visit Hilda Baci as she cooks her way into the Guinness World Records

A 27-year-old Nigerian chef, Hilda Effiong Bassey, popularly known as Hilda Baci, has received massive support from Nigerians as she writes her name in the Guinness World Records for longest cooking marathon by an individual.

The previous record holder was an Indian chef, Lata Tondon, who completed the cooking marathon in 87 hours, 45 minutes, and 00 secs in Rewa, India in 2019.

Baci, who hails from Anambra State, started her 4-day-cook-a-thon on the 11th of May at the Amore Gardens, Lagos, and she has finally crossed the finish line. She is on the course to make her own history as she has already cooked for over 88 hours.

Baci is the rave of the moment. Aside from trending on all social media platforms, she’s getting a lot of support from high-profile Nigerians, and the masses.

Some the high profile personalities who visited Baci at the 4-day cooking marathon are Governor Babajide SanwoOlu, Sen. Godswill Akpabio, Sen. Saliu Mustapha, Pastor Bolaji Idowu, Tiwa Savage, Debola Lagos, Teni, and IK Ogbonna, Enioluwa, Segun Johnson, Charles Okpocha, Spyro, Chioma Ikokwu, Kate Henshaw, and Opeyemi Famakin, amongst others.

Baci also got massive support from her fellow food bloggers who visited the venue of the event to give her moral support.

Aside from eminent personalities who were physically present at the Amore Gardens where the cooking marathon is taking place, Baci also got support online and through phone calls.

The vice president, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo gave Baci the moral booster via a phone call on Sunday. The president-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu also showed his support for the young Akwa-Ibom indigene in an Instagram live video on Sunday with a caption, “IDAN doesn’t break, she breaks records. We’re rooting for you, Hilda.”

Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar also hailed Baci for standing at the crossroads of history, ready to carve her name in the annals of world records.

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi also applauded Baci’s attempt to beat the current Guinness World Record. Obi said her effort shows the true Nigerian spirit of hard work and resilience. His wife, Margaret, also visited the venue of the cooking marathon to support Baci.

Legendary singers, Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, and Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, popularly known as Burnaboy also showed their support for Baci. While Wizkid joined HildaBaciCookAThon Instagram Live to register his support for the young chef, Burnaboy took to his official Twitter handle to tweet “Go Hilda. We are rooting for you to break that record . And I trust say the food go sweet die”.
